Join the drag weirdos of Media Meltdown as they take a journey to Middle Earth!
Long before Peter Jackson made his Academy Award-winning adaptations of "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings'', many other filmmakers tried their hand at bringing Tolkein's fantastical world to our screens and on Saturday September 17th, we'll be screening two of the silliest! In 1985, Soviet television produced a truly bonkers and very psychedelic adaptation of "The Hobbit" and we'll be treated with a brand new English subtitling by Media Meltdown's own Franzia Kafka! After that, we'll be diving into the fan favorite 1978 animated "The Lord of the Rings" from animation provocateur Ralph Bakshi! And if that's not enough to shove up your Hobbit Hole, you'll also be treated to a "Lord of the Rings" drag show, a preshow of obscure Tolkein materials, and more!
